Consumers looking to purchase Hyundai cars under the Car Allowance Rebate System (CARS) will be glad to know that there are a number of Hyundai car models that qualify.  If a consumer has verified that their existing clunker qualifies for a cash voucher to use as a down-payment on a new Hyundai, they can choose the cars listed below.

David Wilson, CEO of Preston Motors in Maryland who operates a Hyundai dealership in near Annapolis MD, sent us this list of qualifying cars:

• 2009 Accent
• 2009 Elantra
• 2009 Elantra Touring
• 2009 Sonata (3.3L and 2.4L)
• 2009 Santa Fe (3.3L and 2.7L)
• 2009 Tucson (2.7L and 2.0L)
• 2010 Genesis Coupe 2.0L

Of course, when you go to your local Hyundai dealer, you will need to validate this list in case program rules have changed.  The only authoritative source for EPA mileage estimates is http://fueleconomy.gov .
