If an email send to dealers this week, Ford is encouraging Ford, Lincoln and Mercury dealers to establish relationships with companies that can assist them with properly disposing of the clunkers that are traded in from the Car Allowance Rebate System (CARS). Ford provided dealers with information on two national companies for dealers to contact.
Dealers were not required to use their two companies but we expect that Ford has done their due diligence before recommending these tow national firms.
The two companies recommended by Ford were Adesa /IAA and Manheim/Total Resource Auctions. Both of these companies are well respected leaders in their industry and are prepared to provide car dealers with a one stop shopping solution.
Both companies have subsidiaries that specialize in scrapping and disposing of vehicles. The companies have comitted to sell the parted components through an auction system that provides the dealer and the consumers with the best opportunity to get maximum dollar for the vehicle.
