Do you have the Cash for Clunkers Blues?
Do the current NHTSA rules have your clunker out in the cold?
If you fall into this category you now have some relief in the form of a music video.
Did you know that thousands of Americans have the Cash for Clunkers Blues?
A new video has been created and dedicated to their plight by 12 year old Connor Pasch.
Connor James Pasch, a 12 year old New Jersey musician, wrote a song called ”Cash for Clunkers Blues” and posted his video on popular video sharing networks today.
The song and video is designed to bring awareness to a growing grass roots movement to change the rules for the Cash for Clunkers program.
The online petition for Americans to sign is located at www.nocashforclunkers.com . The current rules restrict many true clunkers from being included in the government program administered by the NHTSA.
The most common complaint by consumers is that the NHTSA Fuel Economy website rates their clunkers as getting over 18 miles per gallon when in fact their clunkers get far less. The current requirements for old clunker cars to qualification is that they get 18 miles per gallon or less. A car rated at getting 19 or 20 miles per gallon cannot participate in the trade-in program.
Consumers have been writing into www.nocashforclunkers.com to say that the government website does not reflect the current condition and mpg of their clunkers. There are over 3,000 signatures on the online petition which will be sent to backers of the Cash or Clunkers bill in August.
The goal is to amend the bill to reflect a NET-10 increase in mpg to participate in the CARS program and remove the 18 mpg rating restriction. Consumers are also asking that cars older than 25 years old can participate.

I am dealing with a Toyota dealer who requires me to sign a paper that I guarantee the gov’ts $4500 if the govt does not pay the dealer. why?? Should I??
I would like to participate in the program. However, my car’s combined MPG is 21. My car would qualify if I did not have to go by the combined MPG. Everything else about the car qualifies. On the other hand, even if my car qualifies my credit history would take me out of the runnings. At this point, the banks will not lend to a risky borrower. I really have the Cash for Clunkers Blues. I have a steady job with the State, but my credit score is terrible!
Well…I’d LOVE to use the Cash for Clunkers…..unfortunately….my car has been sitting and I haven;t bothered insuring it or keeping it registered…….my bad I guess……..
A 1990 Nissan Stanza does not qualify–gets more than 18 MPG….
I made an attempt to submit on the Locate a Dealer tab and I could not get the information processed. Please let me know what you can do.
Trade-In:

if you had bought an american truck you probably wouldn’t even be looking to get out of it or have put so much money into it for that matter………….
I just submitted my comment. I hope you received it!
I own a 1997 Toyota Tacoma PU truck. It has a mpg rating of 21 but even when it was brand new it never got got 21mpg. My calculations
always indicated that it got 18mpg or less. Now I have to replace the manifold and a bunch of other things. I have a quote of about
$3,500 to bring it up to par. I spent $1,500 last year for a rebuilt transmission! I spent another $1,900 this past Feb!!!! The quality of the work that has been done on it is poor. This kind of spending is going back into the economy via the mechanic BUT I loose because I have had to borrow this money from family members who are hard pressed to part with their hard earned money so that I can keep my transportation which still has a crack in the manifold as well as a totally disconnected pipe going into the manifold! So, after spending $3,400 in the past year on a 12yr old vehicle that still needs another $3,500 to bring it up to emission & safety standards…HELP-This is not right!!!!!!!!!
