I have a 1996 Hyundai Accent GT (3-dr sport) with V6 painted on the sides but everyone says it has a v4 Engine and doesn't qualify for the cash for clunkers program, is that correct? Please get back to me ASAP!

Hyundai Dealers were ready to do business early on. I bought our Elantra Touring on July 11. We drove our clunker to the dealer and 2 hours later we drove off in our new car. We have not had any issues.

List: $19,450
Dealer Discount: $2,384
Hyundai factory rebate: $1,500
C4C rebate: $4,500
Net cost: $11,094 plus Tax and Tag, 43% off list
we put the balance on our visa card.

Needless to say, we are happy campers and really like our new car. My niece bought a Kia (a Hyundai owned subsidiary) with similar discounts and easy process.

I just hope most of the Hyundai dealers sell on the low end, not at or above MSRP, otherwise, not all of us can get an Accent for $7k.

2009 Pontiac Vibe 2.4L/Auto.. MSRP was around $20,500, on summer clearance at around $19,500, minus $4000 rebates, minus $3500 CARS for my '93 Cherokee (I paid $4000 for it 5 years ago) minus $1300 I had in GMCard rebates... $11,300 out the door... I'm very happy with the deal. I wouldn't have bought a new car without the Obama bucks as I just can't see dropping $20 on a car.

As for the voucher, I know mine hasn't been approved yet (as of the 10th), although I have the car, the paperwork, the payment book, etc. Mine was the first CARS vehicle sold at my dealership (bought on the 24th), and none of us knew what a cluster it was going to be.

With the CARS $4500 and Pontiac incentives during July, I bought a 2009 Pontiac G5 XFE (MSRP $17,500) for $7900 (+ tax). That's 55% under MSRP!

And this car isn't stripped. It has AC, power windows/locks, keyless entry, cruise control, OnStar, XM radio, fog lights, spoiler, etc. Throw in GM's 5 year/100K mile warranty, and an EPA rating of 37mpg highway...and this car was impossible to beat. With an extra-light foot, I'm currently averaging nearly 39mpg combined!

This thing is saving me $100/month in gas, which covers most of the monthly payment on my 4 year loan. It's ALMOST paying for itself... :-)

is there anyone in Los Angeles area or with 100mi area able to get a Elantra GLS for below MSRP-rebate price? Every dealers in LA want to sell their Elantra GLS at MSRP-rebate, no more discount. It will make this program not attractive 'cos I can purchase a elantra for $13500 before TTL before the CARS start, and they want $15500 before TTL now, and I will able to sell my clunker for $1000-1500 in used car market.

If your paperwork looked good, some dealers would release the new car immediately. I was driving off in a new car and they hadn't even submitted any paperwork through the CARS website yet (this was before anyone realized what a goat-rope the process was).

My credit union has the title to my car and I STILL don't know for sure if the dealer ever got an approval for my clunker. I can only assume they did at this point.

It must be approved. I received the loan payment book; the ON-STAR card and the car the day I signed the papers.

Darryl: There is currently no place for the consumer to check on your status. You'll have to go through your dealer.
