Body Styles, Trim Levels, and OptionsInsight 4

The Insight is powered by Honda’s Integrated Motor Assist system, which is a combination of a 1.3-liter gas engine and a 13-hp electric motor, all attached to a continuously variable transmission. The engine and motor combined generate 98-hp and 123-lb.ft of torque, and provide 40-plus mpg fuel economy.

The LX trim offers six airbags, anti-lock brakes, automatic climate control, power windows, locks and mirrors, keyless entry and a four-speaker CD audio system with an auxiliary input.

The EX trim adds electronic stability control, alloy wheels, cruise control, six-speaker audio system with USB interface, heated exterior mirrors and steering wheel mounted paddle shifters. A voice activated navigation system is available on the EX trim, and includes Bluetooth for hands-free cell phone use.

Powertrains and Performance

The centerpiece of the all-new Honda Insight is the latest Integrated Motor Assist IMA® system. This next-generation Insight 2hybrid system benefits from everything we have learned as the first automaker to bring a hybrid to the market in the U.S., the original Insight.

Compared to the system in the Civic Hybrid, the battery pack was improved, resulting in cost savings and reduced weight. Its location also allows for greater cabin space. The Insight features a highly efficient, 1.3-liter, 8-valve, i-VTEC® 4-cylinder engine and DC-brushless electric motor, and it’s equipped with a continuously variable transmission (CVT).

The unique Eco Assist ™ system enables increased efficiency for improved performance through two elements, an ECON™ button that controls certain functions of the car, and a feedback system that lets you monitor your driving performance. Eco Scoring at the conclusion of the drive provides drivers with even more of an incentive to drive green.

Safety

All the advanced safety features you’d expect to find in a Honda are right there in the Insight—from airbags to Advanced Compatibility Engineering™ (ACE™) body structure. ACE™ body structure increases Insight passenger protection, and makes it more crash compatible with vehicles of differing ride heights.

The anti-lock braking system (ABS) uses a special modulator to pulse the brakes to help prevent wheel lockup, helping the driver retain steering control when braking hard. And the Electronic Brake Distribution system (EBD) balances the braking forces at each wheel according to how the car is dynamically loaded.

And those are just a few of the safety features found on the all-new Insight. Because the Insight is focused on efficiency and affordability—without sacrificing safety.

Interior Design and Special FeaturesInsight 3

Half the fun of driving on less gas is listening to full sound in the all-new Insight. Standard on the LX is an AM/FM/CD audio system with four speakers, including an MP3/auxiliary input jack. A built-in Radio Data System (RDS) gives you additional information about your music. EX models add a pair of tweeters and Honda’s USB Audio Interface.

Choose the available Honda Satellite-Linked Navigation System™ with voice recognition and also enjoy the factory-installed Bluetooth® HandsFreeLink® communication tool.

The all-new Insight was designed with versatility in mind. It seats five, and has five doors to match. The 60/40 split rear fold-down seatback offers maximum flexibility for people to poles to pets—and everything in between.

You don’t have to look far for the information you need while driving. As part of its two-tier instrument panel, the Insight features a sophisticated Multi-Information Display (MID) that provides data on fuel consumption, temperature and other essentials. The MID is used as part of the Eco Assist™ system for enhanced efficiency.
