I’ve heard that this program was called a huge success. I’m personally not sure about it – pretty wasteful to destroy all those working cars. It takes more energy to build a new car than to keep existing ones running.
I like the idea of taking old cars off the road to help the environment, but I really hated seeing all those perfectly good Cherokees and Grand Cherokees getting crushed. It doesn’t make sense that destroying working cars, then building a new car from scratch would be a good thing for the environment.
